One Room School House Displays
Self-Guided Tours.
ONE ROOM SCHOOL REUNION, Sunday July 5 from 2 - 4 p.m. in the arena hall. If you attended a one or two room school in Normanby prior to 1965 please join us for a time to remember our “school daze” and reminisce. I am still looking for a few greeters for about half the schools. Contact me if you can help me out. Mary Lou Pfeffer (519-379-1256). If possible, bring along any memorabilia or pictures. A self-directed map of the school sections (both Catholic and Protestant) will be available. Any residents of the former schools are welcome to attend and join us. Check in Volume 2 of Normanby Reflections for many more details. Those books will be on sale that afternoon.
Normanby Arena Reunion
Normanby has had a proud history of residents playing a variety of sports. The battle between Ayton and Neustadt ball teams was quite intense in the 40s. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Normanby Arena, people who participated in various teams and sports are invited to share their memories. Pictures will be taken.
1:00 p.m. Anyone who played hockey in Mildmay under Normanby’s name to playing for Normanby Minor Hockey in the arena (both boys and girls.)
1:30 p.m. Anyone who curled on Tuesdays in the arena. Alf Groves pebbled the ice for us.
2:00 p.m. Anyone who played Juvenile hockey for Normanby as well as baseball many years ago.
2:30 p.m. Anyone who skated in the Normanby Skating Club (25 years old)
Coaches and former arena attendants are most welcome. Bring any pictures, trophies, medals or shirts to share memories. Call Mary Lou Pfeffer at 519-379-1256 for more info. Old pictures, banners and trophies will be on display.
